Reverend Jonathan Malone
Pastor Jonathan Malone’s story begins in Albany, New York with a large family (two brothers and four sisters), an American Baptist Church (Emmanuel Baptist), and a sense of being pulled towards God. The first half of his college years was spent at Oberlin Conservatory of Music (he is a bassoonist). In his sophomore year, Pastor Malone embraced his call to ordained ministry and transferred to the State University of New York in Potsdam and studied at the Crane School of Music where he received a Bachelors in Musical Studies focusing on music history and a performance certificate. Pastor Malone attended Andover Newton Theological School where he received his MDiv. Jonathan’s first call was to the First Baptist Church of Dayton, Ohio where he was the Associate Pastor of Youth and Christian Education. While in Dayton, Pastor Malone enrolled in the PhD program in Theology at the University of Dayton. Currently he is a doctoral candidate and just needs to finish his dissertation. Pastor Malone has also served the Lower Merion Baptist Church in Bryn Mawr, PA as the senior pastor. In his spare time, Pastor Malone likes to read, listen to music, play ultimate Frisbee, hike and be with his family.
Jonathan is very excited about his call to FBCEG. “I see so many good things to celebrate and so much potential to live into. I know that God is calling us to be a shining light on the hill for the community, for our denomination and for the world. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us.”
